Once upon a time there was a children's author who spent her days thinking up stories while defending her home against splodgers, baking banana cakes and juggling tortoise. Read what I've been up to in my scrapbook - it's all in a day's work!

Excited to be part of Stratford Literary Festival!

Hopwood Toons are excited to announce that Sharon Hopwood is to be part of the lineup for the Stratford Literary Festival in 2015!

Celebrating its 8th year in 2015, The Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival is an exciting mixture of debate, ideas, celebrity author events, workshops and humour. Alongside this is a programme of education events in Stratford and local schools involving favourite authors, poets and illustrators, entertaining and inspiring children from 2 to 18.

The Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival is the highlight of the regional calendar and one of the most significant literary festivals in the UK, attracting thousands of people who share one passion: a love of books, writing and reading.

My name is Debbie Westwood and I am the Deputy Head Teacher at Christ Church C of E Primary School in Birmingham. I was lucky enough to obtain three copies of ‘Is your daddy a goblin?’ and I took them into school to share them with my staff.

My Early Years Leader immediately snapped one up for her Nursery and Reception children, who are currently doing a topic on looking after ourselves. But my KS2 staff also wanted copies as we are about to do a whole school themed week on Survival!

The beauty of this book is that it can be used to explore a variety of topics and curriculum subjects and the illustrations will really appeal to children of primary school age. We are now eagerly awaiting the next two books soon to be released and have booked Sharon Hopwood to come to our school for World Book Day and Storytelling Week so that my children can enjoy meeting a real author!
